Raymond “Spud” Siegel

Raymond SiegelRaymond “Spud” Siegel, 67, of Marble, died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born March 31, 1947 in Strobleton, PA; he was the son of Leo A. and Clara E. McCauley Siegel.

Ray was a graduate of North Clarion High School.

A veteran, he was a veteran of the Army during Vietnam, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

Ray was married on June 18, 1971 to the former Martha I. Hartle, and she survives.

In earlier years, he worked for the Marienville and Knox Glass Plants. He then worked at the Clarion University, retiring in 2007.

Ray was a member of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Fryburg.

He was also a member of the Fryburg Sportsman Club.

Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing. In later years, he also enjoyed to travel.

In addition to his wife, Martha, he is survived by a daughter, Shelley Rennard and her husband, Russ, of Knox; a son Craig Siegel of Marble; a granddaughter, April Nicklin and her husband, Heath, of Utica; a brother, Russell Siegel and his wife, Jill, of Grand Ridge, IL; and three sisters, Lois Mays of Tionesta, Esther Vogelbacher of Fryburg, and Patricia Hackett of Emlenton.
Also surviving are his brother and sister in-laws, Father Thomas Hartle O.F.M of New Jersey, Gary and Marcia Hartle of Clarion, Bruce and Cheryl Hartle, of Aliquippa, Emerson Hartle of Shippenville, Dave and Stacey Hartle of Knox, and Virginia Hartle of Strattanville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph Siegel; mother and father in-law, Bessie and Clair “Beeze” Hartle, and a brother-in-law, Paul Hartle.

Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014, at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Military honors will be accorded at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in the funeral home by American Legion Post 66.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the St. Micheal’s Catholic Church in Fryburg, with Father Thomas Hartle O.F.M, presiding.

Interment will be held in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery.
