Well-known Clarion Jeweler Ralph McNutt Dies at 81

McNutt PicCLARION, Pa. – Ralph Edwin McNutt, age 81, of South Third Avenue, Clarion, a well-known Main Street, Clarion businessman passed away on July 30, 2014, at the Clarion Hospital.

Born in Clarion on August 24, 1932, he was the son of the late Wilbur and Marie (Tarr) McNutt. He was married to the former Georgianna Gustwick on June 29, 1958, and she preceded him in death on October 30, 2007.

Ralph was a jeweler in Clarion for over 60 years, operating the McNutt Jewelry on Main Street in Clarion for over 60 years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Clarion and enjoyed singing in the church choir. He also enjoyed singing with the NBC Barber Shop Chorus and the Clarion Community Choir. Mr. McNutt was a member of the Clarion Masonic Lodge 277, Coudersport Consistory and the Clarion County Zem Zem Shrine. Ralph loved traveling. He was a US Army Veteran.

Surviving is a daughter, Melissa McNutt of Clarion; two sisters-in-law, Dana Reitz of Strattanville, and Virginia Bennett of Elkhart, IN; a nephew Dick and his wife Carol and their children; his friend and companion Joanne Lair of Clarion; and long-time friend, Bob Leonard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister in law Geraldine Lander.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, 330 Wood Street, in Clarion where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31st, from 7-9 pm at. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 1st, at 11:00 am from the funeral home, with Rev. Kevin R. Haley, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
