Marilyn Kirk Bowley

Marilyn Kirk Bowley, 86, of Brookville died peacefully at the McKinley Health Center in Brookville on August 1, 2014.

Born September 1, 1927 in DuBois, PA she was the daughter of the late A. Draucker and Gladys McClure Kirk of Reynoldsville, PA.

Marilyn was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School in DuBois, PA. She married Paul M. Bowley on November 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1999. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter Gail Ann in 1963.

Marilyn was employed for many years at the Jefferson County Courthouse in the Juvenile Probation office. Prior to that, she worked as a secretary at Matson Lumber Company in Brookville.

Marilyn was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville and was active in the Altar & Rosary Society.

Marilyn served as a member of the Brookville Hospital Auxiliary and as secretary for the WRC Helping Hands Auxiliary at the McKinley Health Center.

Survivors include two sons; Dick Bowley and wife Mary Frances of Peachtree City, GA; Dan Bowley and wife Jill of Reynoldsville, PA; and one daughter, Nancy Carr and husband Jeff of Coopersburg, PA. Nine Grandchildren and six Great Grandchildren fondly referred to Marilyn as ‘Gram Bowley,’ Four brothers; Tom Kirk and wife Tilma (Danville, CA), George Kirk and wife Lois (Frederick, MD), Chuck Kirk and wife Dorie (Sykesville, MD) and Sam Kirk and wife Sharon. (DuBois, PA), and brother-in-law Gary Bowley (Arlington, VA).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marilyn to the Immaculate Conception Church – 129 Graham Ave., Brookville, Pa. 15825, the WRC Continuous Care at the McKinley Health Center – 133 Laurelbrooke Dr., Brookville, Pa. 15825, or any charity of choice in her memory.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Brookville on Tuesday, August 5 at 10:00 am. The family will receive and welcome friends at the church on Tuesday morning from 9 – 10 am. Burial will be St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Brookville.
