OI873452998_RoseSnyder001Rose Marie Helsel Snyder, 89, of Dutch Hill, Parker passed away late Saturday evening (08-02-14) at Clarview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sligo following a period of declining health.

Born in Toby Twp., Clarion Co. on June 27, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Simeon and Chelsea Kriebel Helsel.

Rose was married to Edward Isaac “Ed” Snyder on Feb. 7, 1949, and Mr. Snyder passed away Dec. 12, 2013.

Mrs. Snyder was a graduate of the former Parker High School, and was employed as a secretary for REA Central Electric for a number of years.

She was a longtime and active member of the Concord Presbyterian Church in Perry Twp.

Rose was a member of the former Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 598.

In earlier years, she worked with her husband and other men and women of Perry Twp. in establishing the Perry Twp. Volunteer Fire Company.

In addition to being skilled in cooking and baking, she was an avid square dancer. For years, she and her husband travelled with her sister and brother-in-law, Glenn and Ruth Karnes, throughout the tri-state area attending square dances with Mr. Karnes being the “caller”.

She is survived by a daughter: Sharon Snyder Master; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and special caregivers, Kay and Tom Caldwell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Helsel, and two sisters, Ruth Helsel Karnes and Amelia Grace Helsel.

Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-7:30 PM Wednesday at H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 So. Wayne Ave., Parker where services will be conducted at 7:30 PM with Rev. Randy Evans of Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Dutch Hill.
