Peter R. Solle, 88, of 1762 Bredinsburg Road, Franklin, died at 7:53 pm, Tuesday, August 5, 2014, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Born March 6, 1926 in Franklin, he was a son of the late Harry and Rosa Ferrari Solle.
Mr. Solle was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army.
He was a member of St. Stephen Church.
Mr. Solle retired in 1998 from Shaw Industries after 45 years of service as vice president of production.
He enjoyed hunting, gun collecting, working on the family farm and his grandchildren.
On December 4, 1949 he married the former Billie Lou Rushford in St. Patrick Church in Franklin, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are two sons, Carey R. Solle and wife Carol of Franklin, and Randall P. Solle and wife Diane of Valley Center CA; three grandchildren, Lisa M. Books and husband Matthew of Seneca, Jessica L. Solle and fiancée Nathan Stack of Orlando FL, and Michael Solle of Franklin; and a great grandson, Jaxon Books of Seneca.
Also surviving are a sister, Gloria Wallen of Erie; a brother, Alfred Solle and wife Janice of Pinehurst NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Edward Wallen.
Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Friday in St Stephen Church with the Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, pastor, presiding.
Interment will be in Bredinsburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Venango Catholic High School.
