CLARION TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say around 11:55 a.m. on August 7, a one-car accident occurred on Interstate 80 West, at mile marker 66.9, in Clarion Township.

According to police 56-year-old Akikur R. Choudhury, of Woodside, NY, was traveling west on I-80 in the left lane, and for unknown reasons, the left rear tire of his 2003 Toyota Corolla failed.

This caused the car to slide into the guide rail on the north side of the roadway, police say.

Choudhury and four passengers — 57-year-old Aizizur R. Choudhury; 56-year-old Jamila A. Choudhury; 52-year-old Jahanara K. Choudhury; and 46-year-old Syeda A. Messa — all of Woodside, NY — were using seat belts, and no injuries were reported.

Clarion Hospital EMS assisted at the scene.

The operator of the vehicle was not cited as no violations of the PA Vehicle Code were observed, according to police.
