John Alexander Shaffer, 70, of 205 E Bissell Ave, Oil City, died at 3:32 pm, Friday, August 8, 2014, at his residence.
Born August 31, 1943 in Johnstown, he was a son of the late Harry and Margaret Fair Shaffer.
John enjoyed fishing, especially at Millcreek Park in Ohio, and was a baseball fan, his favorite team being the Baltimore Orioles.
On December 3, 1986 he married the former Beverly Fair, who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are a son, John Alexander Shaffer, Jr. of Oil City; A daughter, Ann Shaffer of Oil City; four grandchildren, Joshua McFeathers, Nicole McFeathers, Emillie Shaffer and DeAnna Pleger; and three great grandchildren, Riley Moore, Gavin Moore and Braden McFeathers.
Also surviving are two brothers, Wayne Shaffer of Baltimore MD, and Gary Piper and wife Karen of Butler; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife and good friend, Elsie Shaffer of Oil City.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday in the Second Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Greg Gillispie, pastor, officiating.
