Schmader photoMildred (Millie) H. Schmader, 89, of Leeper, died late Thursday evening, August 14, 2014 at Serenity House, Shippenville, shortly after having been admitted.

Born May 23, 1925 in Leeper, she was the daughter of the late J. Howard and Theresa G. Griebel Foy.

She was married to William F. (Bill) Schmader on July 8, 1944 at St. Mary Church in Crown and he survives. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.

Millie was a member of St. Mary Church in Crown and the Ladies Guild of the church. She was also a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Some of Millie’s greatest joys were her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also loved her little dogs. Millie enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to her husband, Bill, Millie is survived by 3 daughters, Catherine McCleary and her husband, Jerry of Sun Lakes, Arizona; Karla Beichner and her husband, Chuck of Knox; Karen Schneider and her husband, Stan of Oregon and 1 son, Mike Schmader and his wife, Sandy of Leeper.

She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Millie was preceded in death by a son, William Schmader, Jr.; 3 brothers, James, Joseph and Francis Foy, a sister, Marie Schmader and a great granddaughter.

Friends and family may call from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, August 17, 2015 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Church in Crown with Rev. Christopher Barnes, pastor of the church, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary Church in Crown or the Farmington Township Volunteer Fire Department in Leeper.
