BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — State Police have released details on a tractor trailer accident on Interstate 80 in Clarion County.

According to Clarion-based State Police, at 1:07 p.m. on August 9 a tractor trailer crashed and overturned in a construction zone on I-80 in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Police say Vangjel K. Shkurti, 51, of Middle Village, NY, was traveling east on I-80 in a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia when the incident occurred.

According to police, Shkurti was traveling in the left lane near mile marker 52.2, as the right was closed due to construction.

Shkurti traveled off the left side of the roadway before traveling back onto the road and into the right lane, which was at a lower level due to recent milling.

After the tractor trailer traveled off the right side of the roadway, Shkurti attempted to correct his vehicle by steering back onto the left lane, but over-corrected.

Police say the trailer subsequently overturned and struck the guardrail on the south side of the roadway.

According to police, the tractor then struck the bridge abutment on the north side of the roadway and overturned, coming to a rest facing east in the right lane of I-80.

Shkurti was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Clarion Hospital by Knox Area EMS for treatment of moderate injuries.
