Two Injured in Car vs Tractor Trailer Accident on I-80

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Clarion-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred around 4:31 p.m. on August 19, on Interstate 80, around mile marker 49 in Richland Township, Clarion County.

Police say 45-year-old Scott D. Vanderhoff, of Orville, OH, and 29-year-old Jefferson G. Zuluago, of Jackson Heights, NY were the drivers involved in the collision.

This crash occurred as Vanderhoff and Zuluago were both east-bound on I-80.

Zuluago, driving a 2009 Audi Q7 was in the left lane beside an double-trailer that was not involved.

Vanderhoff, driving a Volvo with a double trailer in tow, moved from the rear
of the non-involved vehicle to the left lane.

Vanderhoff was unable to stop and impacted the rear of Zuluago’s car.

Vanderhoff exited the roadway into the median where the rear trailer rolled onto its side.

Zuluago’s vehicle was moved safely to the berm.

Vanderhoff was using a seat belt and did not sustain any injuries.

Zuluago was also using a seat belt and suffered minor injuries.

Two passengers were in the vehicle with Zuluago. 21-year-old Ianna Zaroubine did not sustain injuries and 35-year-old Sergio Rendon sustained minor injuries.

Both passengers were wearing seat belts and no one was transported from the scene by EMS.

Vanderhoff was charged with Operating his Vehicle at an Unsafe Speed.
