53f95603bea8e.imageDelmar K. Armstrong, 80, of Stoneboro passed away unexpectedly at 10:07 p.m. Friday (8-22-14) in Allegheny General Hospital due to injuries he received in a fall at home.

He was born June 21, 1934 in his grandparent’s home in Worth township to Kenneth C. “KC” and Minnie E. Buckley Armstrong. It is the same house where he and wife Susie reared their family and reside today.

Mr. Armstrong was a 1952 graduate of the former Sandy Lake High School.

After graduation he enlisted in the Air Force. He was a Korean War veteran, serving on active duty from 1953 to 1957. He then served 20 years in the Air Force Reserve, 910 Airlift Wing, Vienna, Ohio.

A highlight of his military duties included receiving awards for his aircraft mechanical skills, which included the honor of working on Air Force One Presidential Aircraft.

In his early years he had worked at Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He went on to work for the U.S. Department of Defense as a quality assurance representative. After retirement in 1990, he was a driver several years for Adesa Auto Auction, Jackson Center.

He was a member of Hendersonville United Methodist Church and had served as a trustee and as financial secretary.

Delmar loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved family get-togethers and sitting around the campfire. He especially enjoyed all of his grandchildren and attending their many activities and sporting events.

He married Donna J. “Susie” Bruce on May 20, 1953, and she survives at home.

Also surviving are: three daughters: Terry L. Armstrong and her husband Dennis Wilson, Mesa, Ariz., Laura S. Armstrong-Goss and her husband Buddy, Thiensville, Wis., and Amy L. Krizon and her husband Jeffrey, Polk; three sons: Delmar B. Armstrong and wife Sandy, High Point, N.C., Gregory J. Armstrong and Jason B. Armstrong and wife Jennifer, all Stoneboro; and eighteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
