Raymond D. Conner

thumbs (1)Raymond D. Conner, 70, of Mayport, died early Friday morning, August 22, 2014 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.

He was born on July 4, 1944 in Chicago, IL. the son of the late James E. and Kathryn E. (Biehm) Conner.

He married A. Jean (Truitt) on October 31, 1964 and they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.

Ray was a master mechanic for C & K Coal, Master Carrier and Ace Motor Freight.

He was a member of the St. Nicholas Church in Crates and the Knights of Columbus Father William D. Smith Council #8538. He also belonged to the NRA, the New Bethlehem VFW and the Clarion Eagles.

Ray was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time outdoors and at his hunting camp. He loved the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed reloading ammunition, muscle cars especially his GTO and talking about the “good old days”.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Conner of Mayport, his three children; James R Conner and wife Melissa of South Bethlehem, Holly G. Dwyer and husband Pat of Erie and John T. Conner and wife Jennifer of Pittsburgh, six grandchildren; Cruz, Colton, Kyla, Kara, Aidan and Zachary, and two brothers, J. Michael Conner of Nicktown and Jerome F. Conner and wife Diane of Sligo.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 at the Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn, a Christian Vigil service will be held at 6:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday, August 26, at 11:00 am at the St. Nicholas Church in Crates with Rev. Father Samuel Bungo officiating.

Interment will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Limestone Township, Clarion County.
