Paul B. Riedel

PAUL B. RIEDEL, 70, of Proctorville, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

He was born March 4, 1944 in Oil City, Pa., son of the late John and Betty Riedel. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Jack Riedel.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Riedel; two children Scott (Cheryl) Riedel and David (Leslie) Riedel; four grandchildren Ryan, Taylor, Katie and Phillip Riedel; two step sons Jack Stickler and Matthew (Shawnte) Stickler; four step grandchildren Ashleigh, Reese, Chloe and Dalton Stickler; two sisters Jeannie (Ralph) Graham and Billie (Jim) Vance; and numerous nieces, nephews and family.

Paul spent his early childhood on a northwestern, Pa. farm through elementary and junior high school. He graduated from Wayne High School and attended Marshall University. He was in the U.S. Air Force and was a B52 Crew Chief. Paul was in the local construction industry his entire life, 13 years as sales manager and vice-president for Tri-State Building Sales. Then he cofounded Riedel-Wilks Building Structures, Inc. in May of 1978 with Robert A. Wilks, his beloved lifelong friend, and the business grew through the present.

Paul was a member of Community of Grace Church. He was a member of the Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce, where he was the director for 20 years and served on various committees throughout the years and won the Volunteer of the Year Award. He was on the Huntington Planning Commission for nine years, three terms, past commission chairman two years, and vice-chairman three years. Paul was a volunteer with the West Virginia Contractor Licensing Committee, City of Huntington Advisory Committee, and various others in the Huntington area with initiatives in development and public works. He was on the Board of Directors for three, 3-year terms and the facility committee with Goodwill Industries.

He was a current member of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, and Huntington Area Development Council, where he was on the Executive Board of Directors. Paul also served on the Incorporator and Directors board with Guaranty Bank and Trust, was on the loan committee, audit committee, public relations/facilities and building committee until the bank sold in 2009. He served on the board of Directors and was a member of the Executive loan Committee from 2009 until present with First Sentry Bank. He was Past Director of the Boys Scouts of America Tri-State Area Chapter and a member of Multiple Industry Boards and Committees. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and an El Hasa Shriner.

Service will be conducted 11 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at Community of Grace Church, by Pastor Steve Hamrick. A private burial will be held in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Community of Grace. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, Ohio is in charge of arrangements.
