David W. Bostaph, age 62, of Erie, passed away tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born in Erie on October 11, 1951 a son of the late Elizabeth Bostaph Snyder. He was a Union worker in Labor Union 603 retiring last October after 30 years of service. “Dave” was also very well known for his landscaping services and was a highly skilled arborist. He loved being outdoors, had a deep appreciation of nature, and was at his happiest way up in the branches of a tree.

Dave was a friend to everyone. He will be remembered singing silly songs, making puns, and for always being ready with a joke. Dave would spend his time doing small woodworking projects or playing with his grandchildren. He will always be cheering on the Steelers. He loved listening to the music of Jethro Tull, The Band, and Arlo Gutherie. Dave was the original Star Wars fan, the Force was strong with him.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Christianne Mehler Bostaph, his three children, David Bostaph, Jr. and his fiancé Amanda Shaffer, Heather Fox and her husband Brian and Lucas Bostaph and his wife Michelle, ten grandchildren, Sagan, Fable, Ashlan, Amity Rose, Lucas, Phoenix and Alexander Bostaph and Grace, Eliana and Brian Fox, two sisters, Elizabeth Johnson of Clarion, Pa and Robin Welding and her husband Jeff of McKeesport, Pa and a brother, Robert Snyder and his wife Deb of Curllsville, Pa and several nieces and nephews also survive.
