Ronald A. Dunlap

 title=Ronald A. Dunlap, 83, a resident of Franklin died peacefully at 7:30 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2014 in his home; surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 29, 1930 in Franklin, a beloved son of the late: Ronald E. and Frances Peterson Dunlap.

He enlisted January 6, 1947 as a peacetime member of the U.S. Army Air Corps; where he earned rank of Corporal. Mr. Dunlap served most of his duty in Guam, where he was attached to demolitions and construction detail. He was honorably discharged from duty on October 7, 1949.

Mr. Dunlap had worked for 43 years as a Mill Hand at Franklin Steel.

He enjoyed woodworking, working around his home and the camping trips that he took with his family. Most especially, he enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He attended Sugarcreek United Methodist Church.

He was married November 10, 1950 in the Sugarcreek United Methodist Church by Reverend Samuel Alaman to the former: Maxine A. Young; who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter: Rhonda Weaver and her husband John of Franklin and by his son-in-law: Steve Lutz of Van. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Tora, Emily and Eric Lutz and Genny Strausbaugh and her husband Mark; and two great-grandchildren: Riley and Bekah Strausbaugh. Also surviving is his faithful friend and companion dachshund: “Sam”.

Also surviving is his brother: John Dunlap and his wife Rita of Myrtle Beach, SC; his half sister: Shirley Katz and her husband Alvin of Las Vegas, NV and his half brother: James Dunlap of Arizona; in addition to many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Sharon Lutz and by his brothers: Donald and Richard Dunlap.

Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home with Reverend Karen Kostur, pastor of Sugarcreek United Methodist Church and Reverend Randy Kightlinger, V.N.A. of Venango County Hospice Chaplain officiating.

Immediately following the funeral services, in honor of Mr. Dunlap’s service to his country, full military burial rites will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Funeral Honor Guard of Franklin at the funeral home.

Private interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery.
