Veronica  “Vera” Gates, 92, of 108 Spruce St. Oil City, died at 9:10 A.M. Wednesday Sept. 3, 2014 at Golden Living Center in Oil City after a brief illness.

Born April 16, 1922 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late George & Mary Schubert  Megic

Mrs. Gates attended Oil City Schools.

A homemaker, she was married on April 13, 1940 in St. Joseph Church by the late Rev. P.A. Lynch to Henry John Gates and he preceded her in death on March 25, 2014.

Mrs. Gates was a member of St. Joseph Church in Oil City.

She enjoyed crocheting, taking trips to the casinos and playing the lottery.

She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Tologo of Oil City, Carolyn M. Copley of Oil City and Henry J. “Jack” Gates of Rockland. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren.

And several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband,    she  was preceded in death by a son Robert Gates

A brother John  Megic and a sister Cecelia Stover

There will be  a private funeral service Thursday in the Reinsel Funeral Home & Crematory.

Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor of St. Joseph Church will preside.

Entombment will be in Bishop McManaman Memorial Mausoleum
