150x184-2941060Pauline Grace Avoy, 93, of Meadville, passed away, Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at Wesbury United Methodist Community. She was born on February 3, 1921, in Biddeford ME, a daughter of the late Joseph and Florilda Cantara Chretien. She married Lewis Everett. Avoy on February 5, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2004.

She attended Saint Joseph High School in Biddeford, Maine and was a stay at home mother and homemaker.

Pauline was a member of Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Altar Rosary Society, and funeral dinner co-chair at St. Agatha Church for 10 years, also the co-chair for cookies for troops for eight years.

Survivors include, two daughters, Cecilia “Cookie” Stein and her husband Michael of Meadville; and Jane Avoy of Raleigh, NC; son Leonard Avoy of Franklin, PA; brother Leo Chretien of Biddeford; grandchildren; David Stein, Kevin Stein, Tina Westergaard, Lori Avoy and Beth Avoy. Kelly Gwin, Paula Ramos and Mary Harvey, who lived with her and she helped raise. When Pauline was asked about how many great grandchildren she had, she laughed and said “Whole Bunches”.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lewis Everett Avoy; her daughter Patricia Gwin; four brothers and five sisters.

Family and friends may call Saturday, at 9:00 A.M. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut Street, Meadville, PA 16335. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville at 10:00 A.M. with Father Matthew Kujawinski as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Saint Agatha Cemetery, Meadville, where Pauline will be laid to rest with her daughter Patricia Gwin.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335, or Wesbury Benevolent Care Fund, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335, or charity of donor’s choice.
