Member_138069Phillip L. Wein, 80, of Shippenville, died on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at the Good Samaritan Hospice House in Beaver.

Born on August 24, 1934 in Allegheny County; he was the son of Meyer and Ida Jane Zuckerman Wein.

Phillip was married in 1963 to the former Nancy Lee Rees in the Rodef Shalom Synagogue in Oakland, where he remained a member until his death.

He attended Penn State University, where he met his future wife, Nancy, for his undergraduate degree and then went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh Law School. He returned to Clarion where he practiced law for nearly 45 years. He was also elected District Attorney for one term.

He was involved in countless clubs and organizations throughout his lifetime and served as solicitor for many of them.

Aside from being a prominent attorney, he also enjoyed entertaining people through his love of magic and ventriloquism. He put on countless shows for people of all ages and so enjoyed seeing the joy on their faces.

Mr. Wein is survived by a daughter, Joan M. Wein of Beaver Falls; a sister, Terri Wein Lichtman of Los Osos, California; and his longtime companion of 12 years, Sandy Gahagen of New Bethlehem.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 29 years, Nancy.

There will be no visitation.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Interment will be held in the Tree of Life Cemetery in Titusville.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that either a donation of a book be made to the Clarion Free Library, 644 Main Street, Clarion PA 16214, in memory of Phillip Wein; or a donation be made to the American Cancer Society, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh PA 15205, in memory of Nancy Wein.
