photoKenneth Alan Russell, 68, a resident of Franklin, PA passed away peacefully Saturday, September 6, 2014 in St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Youngstown, OH surrounded by his loving family; from injuries that he sustained in a bicycle accident.

Ken was born in Grove City, PA on February 23, 1946. He was the son of the late: Albert G. and Petronilla J. Russell of Barkeyville, PA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Nancy Baker Russell. They were married on February 19, 1993 in Rocky Grove, PA.

Ken is also survived by two daughters and two sons: Stephenie Russell of Clark Summit, PA, Cindy Russell Graham and significant other Mike Jordan of Franklin, PA, Michael Baker also of Franklin and Greg Baker and his wife Windy of Crestview, FL.

Ken and Nancy have five grandchildren: Gavin Kennedy, son of Stephenie; Nicky Graham, daughter of Cindy; and Clifton, Matthew and Hannah, children of Greg and Windy Baker of Florida. Ken is also survived by his sister: Sylvia Russell Coast of Franklin, PA and brothers: Albert E. and his wife Jeanne King Russell of Anaheim, CA, Ronald G. and his wife Helen McCune Russell of Tucson, AZ and Bruce W. and his wife Sue Dickert Russell of Slippery Rock, PA.

Ken is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law: Bob and Jan Urban of Oil City, PA, Pete and Carol Morrow of Franklin and Cathy and Bill Womer also of Oil City; in addition to many loving extended family members and friends.

Ken spent his childhood years in Barkeyville, PA and graduated from Victory Joint High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army receiving numerous awards for his service during the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged in October of 1971 with the rank of Sergeant.

He lived in the Franklin area most of his adult life and spent 43 years employed as a Master Scheduler at Conair in Franklin. He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Franklin and was a member of V.F.W. Post# 464 of Oil City, PA.

Throughout his entire life, Ken was an avid outdoorsman with interests in hunting, hiking, fishing, golfing, photography, traveling and camping; and he was an excellent cook as well. He had a special love for local camping with family and friends: Ed and Brenda Allen, and for the National Parks of the western U.S.—Colorado in particular was a favorite destination. At home, Ken was forever undertaking home remodeling projects at which he was a very skilled and talented craftsman—he excelled in this area and his current home is a model of his beautiful work.

A visitation with the family will be held Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin with a Vigil Service to be held at 7:30 PM Friday evening in the funeral home.

Family and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 11 AM in St. Patrick Church, 949 Liberty Street, Franklin with Monsignor John J. Herbein, pastor officiating.
