Local NewsWhitney Discusses Enrollment Numbers; Confirms Addition of Movie Theater and Denny’s RestaurantRon WilshirePublished September 11, 2014 12:01 pmCLARION, Pa. — During an interview, Clarion University President Karen Whitney discussed Clarion’s many building programs and activities as the 2014-15 academic year starts. Whitney says final enrollment figures will not be available until September 15, but it looks like the incoming Freshmen class is about the same size as last year, and total enrollment will be down again. The interview on September 10 for this 30-minute program also offers her opinions on engagement with the community and how the new student housing being built on Main Street will help enrollment. Whitney confirms that in addition to Starbucks and the college bookstore moving to space on Main Street, a new movie theater and a smaller version of a Denny’s Restaurant will also open when construction is completed. She feels the additions will not compete with other Main Street merchants. The complete interview is available below.
