Shirley R. McElhattan, 76, of Clarion, died on Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Clarview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born on July 23, 1938 in Clarion; she was the daughter of Grover and Mabel Baughman Hartzell.

Shirley worked for Owen’s Illinois Glass Plant in Clarion, retiring after 43 years.

She was an avid Steeler’s Fan, but most of all loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by four daughters, Deborah and Bob Singer of Fairmount City, Pamala and Robert McConaughy of Oak Ridge, Kimberly and Tom Synder of New Bethlehem, and Sandra and David Mackinley of Rimersburg. Seven Grandchildren, Christina Clinger of Callensburg, Jennifer Jimenez of New Bethlehem, Robert Mcconaughy of Oak Ridge, Jeremy and Steven Johnston of New Bethlehem, and Ashley and Erin Mackinley of Rimersburg. Five Step Grandchildren, Amy and Joni Singer of Philadelphia, Chad Singer of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Tom and Don Synder of Brookville. Five Great-Grandchildren, Lauren Wright of Melbourne, FL, Broaghan and Logan Jay of Callensburg, and Caiden and Nathan Jimenez of New Bethlehem.

Also surviving are her brothers, Grover Hartzell Jr. and his wife Tops of Knox and Robert and Donna Hartzell of Shippenville.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and sons, Roger and David McElhattan and a Granddaughter, Michelle Wright.

Family will receive friends from 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home, 638 Wood Street, Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday in the Funeral Home.

Interment will be held in the Asbury Cemetery.
