Howsare, a 6-3, 255-pound, senior, and co-captain of the 2014 team, led the Golden Eagle defense with 10 tackles (5 solo), 1.5 sacks for -8 yards and recovered a Marauder fumble and returned it 23 yards. The Clarion defense held MU to 125 yards rushing (2.8 per carry), plus had 5 qb sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, an interception, recovered kick and a blocked punt.
In two games this season Howsare has collected 17 tackles, 5 tfl’s, 3 sacks and a fumble recovery. In his fourth season as a Golden Eagle Julian has totaled 187 tackles, 46 tfl’s, 31 sacks, 9 pass break-ups, 7 blocked kicks, 6 fumbles caused, 2 int’s and 1 fumble recovery. He was the 2013 PSAC-West Defensive “Player of the Year”, First team PSAC-West and a Third Team FB Gazette All-American. He was also a First Team PSAC-West choice in 202 and a Third Team FB Gazette All-American.
Julian, a Sports Management major at Clarion, is the son of Karyn Stalter and John Howsare. His brother Avery is also a member of the Clarion football team at linebacker and made 3 stops at Millersville.
Clarion travels to Cheyney this Saturday for a 1pm kickoff.
