Three Arrested after Allegedly Fabricating Armed Robbery in Emlenton

crimeEMLENTON, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police have charged three individuals with False Reports to Law Enforcement Authorities implicating two women in a burglary that allegedly occurred in Emlenton Borough.

According to a Criminal Complaint, 20-year-old Megan Georgina Marie Denlinger, of Freedom, called PSP Franklin to report an armed robbery that occurred on August 30, 2014, at approximately 3:15 p.m., in front of College Street, Emlenton Borough, Venango County.

The Criminal Complaint indicates Denlinger alleged that she and her friends — 23-year-old Amber Nichole Bowers and 24-year-old Mark Douglas Fehir, Jr., both of Freedom, were in town to go canoeing and hiking. They were headed back to Dotter’s Eddy when they forgot to stop for snacks, so as they were driving up Hill Street, they decided to turn around to go back down to IGA.

Denlinger said the first street on the right they came to was College Street, so they decided to drive to the end and attempt to turn around. Denlinger told police they were approaching the end of the road before the curve, and they were allegedly approached by two females. Denlinger suggested to Bowers, who was driving, that she knew them and to stop.

At this time, Denlinger explains that one female came around to her side of the car and the other female to the driver’s side.

She then explained that both of them allegedly pulled out pocket knives and held them up, and the female who came around to her side of the vehicle said “Give me all your money.”

Denlinger’s wallet just happened to be positioned on her lap, and she allegedly handed over all the money they had at that point, according to documents.

She first reported to Trooper Ames, who was working desk, that it was $130.00 that was stolen.

During the interview, she reported to Trooper Latshaw that she had around $150.00 stolen. She then allegedly retracted and said “maybe it was $130.00, since I probably paid for gas.”

Denlinger, Bowers, and Fehir provided written statements to explain the events that transpired.

During the course of this investigation, Trooper Latshaw learned that Denlinger had allegedly fabricated the robbery to get back at the accused female who had “ripped her off a few years prior over a drug deal.” The amount of that transaction was $130.00.

Both females (victim #1 and victim #2) who were accused of the robbery provided messages to substantiate the events and the threats Denlinger professed to both of them.

According to the Complaint, Denlinger threatened to kill both victim #1 and #2 and to kill victim #2’s children. She also called several times, sent numerous texts, and sent Facebook messages to both victims.

Victim #1 was able to show Trooper Latshaw the times in which Denlinger contacted her prior to the robbery to ascertain her location, so she could meet up with her.

Denlinger then allegedly called and texted Victim #1 after the “robbery” on the same day and the next day.

On September 15, Trooper Latshaw filed charges against the three defendants in District Court 28-3-04.
