Tina Louise Shaffer, 39, of Titusville, has been found guilty of fatally shooting her boyfriend Lloyd “Buddy” Shontz, Jr., 49, on March 4, 2014, following a domestic dispute.

Since the jury found her guilty of third-degree murder, the other charges were not deliberated.

The homicide occurred on the evening of March 4 on Wallaceville Road, in Plum Township, Venango County.

Police say at approximately 6:30 p.m, a phone call was received from a residence on Wallaceville Road.

The adult male caller stated that there was an active domestic ongoing between his mother and his mother’s boyfriend who all resided there.

The caller told the 911 operator that he heard a gunshot.

Pennsylvania State Police from Franklin and Corry Stations responded and found Shontz still alive in the residence on the floor.

He died at the scene prior to being transported to the hospital.

Investigators determined that sometime during the domestic incident, Shaffer was handed the weapon by Shontz who then fired one shot striking Shontz in the chest.

Shontz was pronounced dead at the scene by Venango County Coroner Christina Rugh.

Shaffer was taken into custody and placed in the Venango County Jail without bond.

Shaffer’s sentencing is scheduled for December 9.
