Grant Allows Forest Area School District to Provide Free Online Courses

FOREST COUNTY, Pa. — A new grant will allow Forest Area School District to provide students, staff, and community members access to a catalog of free online courses.

Forest Area School District recently announced their selection for a National Educational Foundation grant which allows the District to partner with the Sarah Stewart Bovard Memorial Library, the Marienville Area Library, and the Taylor Diversion Programs to offer students, staff, and community members access to a catalog of 635 world-class Information Technology, Business, Desktop, and Softskills web-based online courses at no cost.

The information technology section includes SQL, RPG, CISSP Security, Dynamic HTML, Oracle, Web Design, and Graphics courses. The business subsection includes CBAP Certification Preparation, Project Management Certification, and various other videos and courses including information about Six Sigma. The desktop category includes Courses in Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Windows. Finally, Communication Skills, Ethics, Customer Service, Innovation, Management and Negotiations, and other courses including running an online business are included in the SoftSkills and Personal Development area.

A copy of the course catalog is available online at forestareaschools.org, at the Tionesta and Marienville public libraries, and at Taylor Diversion Programs. These locations will also be available for computer and internet access in completing course work.
