This week, the Golden Eagles picked up an additional vote giving them five, which would be good to be ranked 39th in the country. Clarion won four matches over the weekend beating Millersville (3-0), Lock Haven (3-2), Shippensburg (3-0) and defending PSAC Champion Pitt-Johnstown (3-0).
Clarion is one of three schools from the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region to receive votes. Defending Atlantic Region champion Wheeling Jesuit is ranked ninth in the nation, while Gannon picked up four votes this week.
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday and Saturday at Tippin Gym when they host Seton Hill (7 p.m. Friday) and California (Pa.) (1 p.m. Saturday) in a pair of key PSAC West early-season matches. Clarion went 3-0 vs. Seton Hill a year ago including a win in the opening round of the NCAA Division II playoffs, while the Golden Eagles were 1-2 vs. California, including a loss in the NCAA Division II Round of 32.
