The Golden Eagles couldn’t get much going in the first half as Millersville took shot after shot at Laura Saussol who stood tall the entire 90 minutes. Saussol kept the Golden Eagles alive for 77 minutes of the ball game.

In the 77th minute of the game Kady Yoders put the ball past Saussol for her first goal of the night. Yoders put the ball in the back of the net again 35 seconds later as the tie quickly became a huge hole Clarion couldn’t get out of.

“The ball got played out wide, those are always hard balls to deal with and the winger got in behind our back line and served it into the middle,” said Coach Sean Esterhuizen after the game on the first Millersville goal.

Saussol saved 10 of the 12 shots on goal taken by Millersville. “Laura had a great game, she was solid making some very special saves,” stated Esterhuizen. “We had our opportunities,” he continued, “we [just] didn’t finish. Everybody put in 100% effort though.”

The Golden Eagles as a team finished with eight shots, two on goal. The Golden Eagles best opportunity to get the ball in the net came on an Autumn Rosenberg shot from at least the 30 yard line that arced perfectly under the crossbar, however, Olivia Webber was there for the Marauders.

The Golden Eagles continue their campaign Saturday with a 2pm kickoff on the turf of Shippensburg University. The next home match is Friday, October 3, 2014, against Edinboro.
