Anthony J. Gorman

Anthony J. Gorman ,72, of Oil City, PA. died at 11:15 P.M. Wed., Oct. 1, 2014 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie, PA. after an extended illness.

Born Oct. 11, 1941 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of the late Thomas Gorman and Katherine Stanish Steen.

Mr. Gorman was a 1959 graduate of Oil City High School.

He had served as Staff Sgt. in the United States Army retiring after 20 years of service.

He was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious Service in Vietnam.

Anthony had been a Sgt. with the Sugarcreek Police Dept. before retiring.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 464 and the Disabled American Veterans

Mr. Gorman had also been a member of the Elks, Eagles, PNA, Pulaski and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was married on June 2, 1962 in Franklin to the former Beverly Thomas and she survives.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Michael Gorman & his wife Janine of Oil City, Richard Gorman of Oil City, Christopher Gorman & his wife Brianne of Oil City, Catherine Cannon & her husband Michael of Butler. The following grandchildren, Richard Gorman Jr., Kaitlyn Hayes & her husband Mark, Tabitha Gorman, Brittanee Gorman, Krista Gorman, Tyler Gorman, Anna Campbell and Christian Cannon, Caleb Cannon

He is also survived by his sisters, Patricia Augustine of Prescott, AZ, Mary Ann Demuling & her husband Dan of Virginia

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by a brother Donald Zuppello.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 7-9 P.M. Sunday in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday in the funeral home with Rev. Matthew Ruyechan, Presiding.

Interment with full military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.
