Police Respond to Two-Vehicle Crash in Work Zone on I-80, Scrubgrass Township

SCRUBGRASS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Clarion-based State Police say around 4:40 p.m. on October 1, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 80 West, 131 feet north of State Route 268, in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County.

According to police, 22-year-old Cody J. Copeland, of Conneaut Lake, and 33-year-old Tonya M. Sterner, of Knox, were involved in the collision.

Police say this collision occurred on I-80 westbound within the one lane (left) Emlenton Bridge construction zone.

Copeland was driving a 2002 Toyota RAV 4 and Sterner was driving a 2011 Ford Fusion, traveling westbound on I-80.

Sterner slowed for traffic, and Copeland failed to slow and his Toyota rear-ended the Ford, according to police.

Copeland was using a seat belt and was not injured.

Sterner was also using a seat belt.

Clarion Ambulance transported her to Clarion Hospital.

The extent of her injuries are unknown.

Copeland was charged with Careless Driving.
