John Edward Klipstein Sr.

10710731_10204032654729960_425169814405842143_nJohn Edward Klipstein Sr., 82, of Oil City, formerly of Sewickley, went home to Our Heavenly Father on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, in his home with his family by his side, following an extended illness.

Born on Feb. 27, 1932, in Lonaconing, John was the son of the late Edward T. and Elsie M. Grindle Klipstein.

John was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Seneca, and a former member of Blackburn Church of Sewickley. He attended Central High in Lonaconing, where he was the left handed star pitcher for the baseball team. John enlisted in the U.S. Army, First Cavalry Division in 1949 and was proud to serve in the Korean Conflict 1950 to 1951. He retired from J and L Steel-Aliquippa Works after 30 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed collecting war items, and was proud of his straight razor collection. John was a very kind and giving person who was always ready to help others.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister, Aline, who died in infancy; a son-in-law, Angelo Venanzio Jr. in 2004, and long time companion, Marjorie Lutz in 2006.

Surviving are a son, Johnathon Klipstein; two daughters, Mary Louise Venanzio and Sandra Lynn Murray, all of Baden; three grandchildren, Christopher Klipstein, of Baden, Heather Murray, of Sewickley, and Lisa (Rob) Shay, of Bellevue; one sister, Carol DelSignore, of New Creek, W.Va.; two brothers, Melvin (Ann) Klipstein, and James (Betty) Klipstein, of Frostburg; ex-wife, Helen (Spiker) Wolf, of Baden; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Friends will be received in the Richard D. Cole Funeral Home, Inc 328 Beaver St., Sewickley, Pa. 15143 on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. in Sewickley Lighthouse Church 301 Beaver St., Sewickley, with Pastor Richard Gelfand of Lighthouse Baptist Church and Pastor Larry Williams from Faith Baptist Church officiating.

Interment will follow in Sewickley Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be under the direction of the Beaver County Special Unit.

John’s family would like to express their heart-felt thanks to Dr. Andres, the amazing staff of Asera Care Hospice and Heidi from the visiting nurses for their excellent care provided to our father.
