BEAVER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Clarion-based State Police, around 2:20 p.m. on October 3, a hit-and-run accident occurred at Tom’s Riverside, in Beaver Township, Clarion County.

Police say a 70-year-old Deanna Jane McGiffin, of Knox, and 52-year-old Beth Ann Ealy, of Petrolia, were involved in the incident.

According to police, McGiffin backed out from a parking stall and Ealy was attempting to park.

McGiffin sideswiped Ealy’s 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser’s right side with the left side of her Dodge Caravan. McGiffin contacted PSP Clarion to report the collision, and she was advised to switch information due to this being a non-reportable collision, police say.

While Ealy attempted to obtain information from McGiffin, McGiffin took Ealy’s driver’s license from the dash board of the Chrysler and then placed it in the tail gate of the Chrysler, according to police. McGiffin then fled the scene.

Ealy then contacted PSP Clarion to advise that McGiffin took her driver’s license and fled the scene. She advised that she would stay at Tom’s Riverside and wait.

When contacted at her residence, McGiffin related that she was not in a collision and did not take Ealy’s driver’s license.

Unrelated to the incident, while at McGiffin’s residence, a Ten Ton Weight Limit road sign was found to be on the floor of the home.

After police left McGiffin’s residence, they discovered that Ealy returned home and found her driver’s license stuck in the seam of her vehicle’s tailgate.

No other information was provided.
