Wilda May Bickel

Screenshot_8Wilda May Bickel, age 89, of Knox, went to be with her Lord Sunday morning, October 5, 2014 at her home following a brief illness.

Born October 5, 1925 in Fertigs, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Silzle Dashner.

Wilda was a homemaker and was a member of the Turkey City Church of God. She was also a member of the Women’s Fellowship of the church and enjoyed doing crafts with plastic canvas. She collected cows and snowmen.

She was formerly married to the late R. Duyane Bickel.

Survivors include nine children: Shirley Mott and husband, Edward, of Pleasantville; Korona Say and husband, Carl Say, Jr.; Paul Bickel and wife, Joy, of Galesburg, Illinois; Rosco Bickel and wife, Donna, of Venus; Charles Bickel and wife, Debbie, of Venus; George Bickel and wife, Kate, of Cranberry; John Bickel and wife, Diane, of Cooperstown; Rose McClellan and husband, Rick, of Oil City and Lewis Bickel and wife, Debbie of Cooperstown.

Wilda is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and former husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle and Leon Dashner; two sisters, Blanche and Medora Dashner, in infancy; two granddaughters, Sonja Evans and Misty Booth and two great granddaughters, Ariel Bickel and Liberty Bickel.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc. 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the Turkey City Church of God, 479 Turkey Hill Road, Turkey City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with her children, Reverend Korona Say and Reverend Paul Bickel co-officiating.

Interment will follow in the Fertigs Cemetery.
