Clarion Teen Faces Felony Burglary Charges; 6th Grader Allegedly Admits to Theft

williamsCLARION, Pa. (EYT) — An 18-year-old Clarion man is facing Felony charges stemming from a burglary that occurred on October 2 on Heidrick Street in Clarion.

Around 1:18 a.m. on October 2, Clarion OES dispatched Clarion Police Department to Heidrick Street for a report of a break-in.

Officers Meet with Victim

According to a Criminal Complaint, Clarion Borough officers Robinson and Scheckler met with the owner of the residence. She stated that she left the residence at approximately 9:00 a.m. on October 1. and returned at approximately 12:50 a.m. on October 2.

Upon returning her residence, she observed the screen to her window above the sink was cut and hanging open, her window was open, and her candles from the window sill were laying in the sink.

The victim reported that her Asus laptop was missing from her bedroom. She said there were several indications that someone was in her house, such as doors open, lights on, items moved, and related evidence.

The Complaint indicates that Officer Scheckler walked around the outside of the residence and observed a small metal object that appeared to be a kitchen butter knife handle laying by the outside door but no knife attached to the top.

The frame around the inside of the kitchen window appeared to be bent as if someone was prying or pushing on it from the outside and the crank out window was open. There was a butter knife laying in the kitchen sink that did not belong to the owner, according to the document.

Although officers were not able to find any liftable prints on the window, they were able to lift print for evidence from the small TV that had been moved from the stand beside the property owner’s bed.

The officers collected the knife, handle, and two fingerprints for evidence.

Officers Dispatched to Same Residence on Following Day

On October 2, at 10:05 p.m., Clarion Borough officers were dispatched to the residence again, as the owner believed someone entered her residence through the side door and removed two items: a 19 or 21″ JVC flatscreen TV and a RYOBI screw gun/drill.

Eyewitness Reports Suspicious Activity

Around 10:30 a.m. on October 3, Clarion Borough Police Officer Kemmer investigated a call from an eyewitness who wanted to report a suspicious incident that occurred around 6:40 p.m. on October 2 on Heidrick Street. He noticed two male juveniles and one female juvenile at the intersection of Heidrick and Grand Avenue. Additionally, another male juvenile rode a bike behind Heidrick Street, and this juvenile showed the group something he had in a black bag. The eyewitness stated that all of the juveniles then took off. The eyewitness said that he has seen the juveniles before, as they are always walking around town. He also stated that he has seen the juveniles with two other people, an older male who is always wearing a black trench coat and a female with strawberry blonde hair.

Police Discover Stolen Items

Following up on the eyewitness report, Officer Kemmer went to an apartment on Grand Avenue. The resident of the apartment said his 6th grade son brought home a laptop computer. The serial number on the laptop matched the one stolen from Heidrick Street. He also found a green Ryobi Cordless drill. Officer Kemmer took both items as evidence.

6th Grade Student Interviewed

The Criminal Complaint states Officer Peck was assigned the investigation for follow-up. Around 3:00 p.m. on October 3, Officer Peck interviewed the juvenile suspect. The 6th grade student stated that he entered the house on Heidrick Street two times (back to back days). The first time he was alone and took the laptop. He stated that he used a knife to open the door and cut the screen of the window. The boy stated he was in the house for around 1 1/2 hours going through the items looking for items worth anything.

In his statement to Officer Peck, the boy stated on the following day, he met with three other individuals and they went to what the boy described as an “abandoned house.” One of the juveniles used a butter knife to slide through the door and force entry into the residence.

A small TV and cordless drill were taken, according to the Complaint.

Two other juveniles provided a written statement, and one of the juveniles was taken into custody and transported to the Clarion Borough Police Department.

Wesley Williams Interviewed

At 5:10 p.m. on October 3, Office Kemmer went to the residence of 18-year-old Wesley Mark Williams, of Clarion, and an unidentified individual. At first, both actors denied any involvement, and then the unidentified individual admitted going into the residence, but with the understanding that the residence was abandoned.
