Jack C. Smith

Jack C. Smith, 91, of Sugar Creek Station Independent Living, died Monday evening, October 6, 2014.

Born October 1, 1923 in Oil City, he was a son of the late James P. and Harriet McKenzie Smith.

Jack worked for many companies in the area, retiring from Franklin Steel.

He as a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Oil City.

Jack was an avid reader, and loved being with his family and friends, and his cat.

On January 6, 1951, he married the former Lois Wygant, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by four sons, Jack C. Smith, Jr., of Seneca, Robert Smith and Bev Hart of Franklin, Jeff Smith and Traci of Slippery Rock, and Todd Smith and Marli of Leominster Mass.; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, Francis Smith, Leo Smith, Chuck Smith, Ellis “Ted” Smith, Donald Smith and Jim Smith; two sister, Lois Bennett Smith and Irma “Mike” Edwards; and a grandson, Dylan Smith.

A Funeral Service will be held in Grace United Methodist Church, 100 Central Ave, Oil City, on Thursday at 11 am with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church, 100 Central Ave, Oil City PA 16301, or the Venango/Forest CART (County Animal Response Team), 244 Camp Wilbea Road, Franklin PA 16323.
