Kenneth Hogue_obitKenneth R. Hogue, age 87 of Shippenville, passed away Monday evening, October 6, 2014 at the Clarion Hospital.

Born September 22, 1927 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Lawrence W. and Viola Stroehman Hogue.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the military police unit and honorably discharged in 1952.

Ken was a craneman and cutoff operator for J & L Steel, retiring with 40 years of service to the company. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church at Fern and enjoyed bowling, archery and horseshoes.

Survivors include his wife, the former Idabelle L. Umstead, who he married at the Trinity E.C. Church at Fern on June 4, 1954 and four children: Kenneth L. Hogue and wife, Maudene, of Leeper; David Hogue of Lucinda; Susan Olson and husband, Randy, of DuBois and Jeffrey Hogue and wife, Diane, of Shippenville; Seven grandchildren; Kenneth S. Hogue, Brittni Hogue, Ethan Olson, Corrie Olson, Brianna Olson, Danielle Hogue and Trenton Hogue.

Ken is also survived by his siblings: Shirley Showman of Greensboro, North Carolina; William Hogue and his wife, Nancy, of Pleasantville; Raymond Hogue and his wife, Donna, of Knox; Richard Hogue and his wife, Jackie, of Ford City and Joyce Crum and husband, Richard, of Williamsburg, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters: Helen Mitchell, Betty Best, Kathryn Hogue and Opal Hogue and three brothers: Lawrence Hogue, Robert Hogue and Dale Hogue.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Trinity E. C. Church at Fern, 699 Golf Course Road, Kossuth.

Funeral services will be held in the church at 11 a.m. Friday with Reverend Mark Micklos, pastor of the church, officiating over the service.
Interment will follow at the Cedarview Memorial Park in Strattanville.
