Corbett Administration Announces Veterans’ Trust Fund Grant Funding Opportunities

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Governor Tom Corbett has announced the availability of up to $500,000 in Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF) grants.

“The Veterans’ Trust Fund is one way we are fulfilling our commitment to Pennsylvania’s wounded warriors,” said Gov. Corbett. “These grants will ensure that organizations who serve our veterans will be able to continue their good work.”

Grants will be considered in the following areas:

~Up to $350,000 in competitive grants to veterans service organizations and non-profit organizations with a mission of serving Pennsylvania veterans, focusing on four areas of emphasis: homelessness, behavioral health initiatives, outreach services, and other programs or services that address newly identified, unmet or emerging needs of veterans and their families

~Up to $100,000 in competitive grants to County Directors of Veterans Affairs or the Pennsylvania Association of County Directors of Veterans’ Affairs, focusing on four areas of emphasis: health care enrollment, veteran outreach initiatives, veterans court initiatives, and other programs or services that address newly identified, unmet or emerging needs of veterans and their families

~Up to $50,000 to a veterans service organization, non-profit organization with a mission of serving Pennsylvania veterans, County Director of Veterans Affairs or the Pennsylvania Association of County Directors of Veterans’ Affairs to co-sponsor a Veterans Symposium.

“We’re excited to announce our second round of grants to be awarded in 2015 that will fund improved assistance and support for Pennsylvania veterans and their families,” said Brig. Gen. Jerry G. Beck Jr., deputy adjutant general for veterans affairs. “Our goal with the Veterans’ Trust Fund is to build and expand partnerships with charitable organizations, veterans service organizations and county directors of veterans affairs by awarding grants in specific areas of emphasis.”

Grant information can be found at www.vtf.state.pa.us. Grant applications must be received at DMVA by 4 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014. Late submissions will be administratively rejected without review.

The VTF is supported in part by Pennsylvanians who have voluntarily made a $3 donation when applying for or renewing their driver’s license or photo ID or renewing a motor vehicle registration, as well as proceeds from the sale of the Honoring our Veterans license plate.

The Veterans’ Trust Fund was established in 2012 and the PA Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is authorized to solicit and accept donations to the VTF on behalf of the Commonwealth.
