Clarion University Men’s Swimmers Top Grove City on Saturday, 170-139

CLARION, Pa. — Ben Spencer and Jon Haycock were multiple winners on Saturday leading the golden Eagle Men’s Swimming and Diving team to a 170-139 win over Grove City in the season opener.

Held at the Waldo s. Tippin Natatorium, Spencer won four individual events and Haycock two events to lead the Golden Eagles to victory.

In the pool Spencer won the 200 IM (2:07.48), the 100 backstroke (55.79), 400 IM (4:37.29) and the 200 back (2:04.85) to take four individual events.

Haycock meanwhile won two events – namely the 100 breaststroke (1:01.96) and the 200 breaststroke (2:20.30).

Also providing winning performances in the pool were James Robichaud in the 1650 (18:06.90), Luke Simpson in the 50 free (22.57), and Shayne Custodio in the 500 free (5:34.16).

The diving contingent continued its great performances with Collin Vest winning the 3 meter with 319.60 points, and Nick Larmon winning 1 meter with 295.44 points.

The Golden Eagles are in action next Saturday at the Quad Meet at the spire Aquatic Center in Geneva, Ohio.
