Clarion University Women’s Swimmers Top Grove City on Saturday, 197-121

CLARION, Pa. — The Clarion women’s swimming and diving team opened the 20-14-15 season on Saturday afternoon with a 197-121 win over Grove City with seniors Emilee Gysegem and Kristin Day leading the way.

Held at the Waldo s. Tippin Natatorium, Gysegem won four individual swimming events and Day won both diving boards to lead the Golden Eagles to victory.

In the pool Gysegem won the 200 IM (2:14.38), 200 free (2:00.89), 200 back (2:12.47) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.34).

Also winning individual events were Gabriella Schaffer in the 100 backstroke (1:00.53) and Emily Ondrizek in the 50 free (25.35).

Defending NCAA Champion on 1 and 3 meter boards, Day opened the season winning the 3 meter with a score of 307.85 and the 1 meter at 276.65.

The 200 medley relay team of Schaffer, Gysegem, Kelsey Slayton and Anna McNurlen won the event with a time of 1:51.45.

The Golden Eagles are in action next Saturday at the Quad Meet at the spire Aquatic Center in Geneva, Ohio.
