BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Brookville Area School District Superintendent Robin Fillman has confirmed a bomb threat was made late Friday morning at Brookville High School, Jefferson County.

Dr. Robin Fillman said after the threat was received, the district’s “Emergency Committee” met and decided to evacuate the building and send all students home.

The Emergency Committee consists of school administration, police, and emergency responders.

“The process went smoothly and the students are on their way home,” said Fillman.

Law enforcement is currently on the scene searching the building.

If the premises is determined to be safe, students will be allowed to return Saturday to gather any belongings left behind, according to Fillman.

No further details are available at this time.

The reported threat is the second in two weeks at the school. On October 3, law enforcement scoured school grounds for several hours after a threat was made. The threat turned out to be a hoax.

Fillman confirmed a suspect has been identified in the October 3 incident. No further details have been released.

It’s unclear if the two incidents are related.
