James Allen Shields, 82, a resident of Sugar Creek Station, passed away at 2:55 p.m. on October 21st, 2014.

Born March 14th, 1932, in Franklin, he was the son of Sarah S. (Beers) Milford and Frank L. Shields, who preceded him in death. His siblings, Jessie Demler, Millard and Pat Wolford also preceded him in death.

Mr. Shields worked as a Laborer at Hough Manufacturing Company until it closed, and Shaw Industries until 1982. He was married on May 7th, 1963 to Helen I. (Harvey) Shields, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children, Robert Shields, and James A. Shields, Jr. both of Franklin, Pamela G. Hart of Franklin, and Jeannie of California; a brother, M. Luther Wolford, and his wife, Betty Lou of Franklin, his sister, Lois and her husband, Arthur Dunlap.

James is also survived by six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Friday, October 24th from 9 to 11 am with funeral services following with the Rev. Jonathan Bell, Pastor of Franklin Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Graham Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the VNA Foundation, 491 Allegheny Blvd., Franklin, Pennsylvania 16323 and/or the Venango County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301.
