3344e0d3f845c7f7Neil “Uncle Pete” Emrick, 71 of Elk City passed away at 9:45 Sunday morning, October 26, 2014, at the Golden Living Nursing home in Shippenville with family and friends by his side.

Born May 8, 1943 on the family farm, he was the son of Alvin (Dutch) and Mabel Exley Emrick.

Pete graduated in 1962 from the Keystone High School and lived his entire life in Elk City except for two years, 1964 to 1966 when he proudly served his country in the Army at home and in Korea.

After coming home he worked at Knox Glass until it closed and he worked at Penn Grove Homes in Knox.

Pete loved life. He enjoyed spending time with his long time friend Terry Kahle at his store and traveling the area delivering equipment.

Pete also enjoyed the breakfast gang at the Clarion McDonalds.

Pete is survived by a brother Harry (Peg) Emrick of Elk City and five sisters; Phyllis Bish of Brookville, Marabelle Rice of Franklin, Theatis Beary of Clarion, Darlene Stewart of Rimersburg, and Karen (Nelson) Craig of Shippenville. Also surviving are a sister in law Kay Emrick and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents Pete was preceded in death by a brother Chuck Emrick, two sisters Janet Myers and Julie Emrick, four brothers in law Donald Bish, WM. B. Myers, Lloyd (Jake) Beary, and Larry Stewart and two nephews Randy Bish and Brent Emrick.

At Pete’s request there will be no public viewing.

Internment was held at Knox Union Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday, November 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. in the funeral home with Rev. Betsy Cooper officiating.

The Knox American Legion Post No. 720 will perform full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Pete’s memory to the organization of one’s choice or by doing a good deed for someone in need.
