Daniel E. Haid, 45, of Rattigan Road, Chicora, Donegal Twp., died at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh following an illness.

Daniel was born in Butler on November 17, 1968.

He was the son of Edward Andrew Haid III of Fenelton and the late Marcia Rhoades Haid.

He was of the Roman Catholic faith.

As a youth he was active in scouting and in 1986 Dan earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

He was a 1987 graduate of Karns City High School.

He had been employed as a residential program worker with ARC in Butler and was a member of SEIU Local 668 where he had served as union steward.

In addition to his father he is survived by three brothers, Andrew J. Haid of Butler, Edward A. Haid and his wife, Traci, of Fenelton, Joseph A. Haid and his wife, Shanna, of Chicora, as well as a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his mother, who passed away on November 9, 1997, he was also preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 2 – 4 and 7 – 8:45 p.m. Friday.

A blessing service will follow from the funeral home at 8:45 p.m. with the Rev. Rick Thompson, pastor of Mater Dolorosa Roman Catholic Church, Chicora, officiating.

To honor Dan’s memory, the family requests you attend a benefit at Alan’s Roadhouse in Petrolia from 12 Noon – 7 p.m. on Saturday, November 1.
