Lois-Sloss-1414932773Lois A. Sloss, 87, of Kennerdell died at 1:36 a.m. Sunday November 2, 2014 at her home.

A daughter of Harry and Ada Thomas Swavey she was born in Franklin on December 14, 1927. She was a graduate of Franklin High School.

Mrs. Sloss had worked at Tom’s Corner Dairy Store and as a waitress at Frenchcreek Café and at Skye’s Restaurant.

She loved spending time with her family, perusing yard sales and playing poker.

On March 27, 1947 she married Gerald W. Sloss; he died September 7, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters Kay Johnson and her husband Sam of Franklin and Becky Wice and her husband Tom of Cranberry; 7 grandchildren Stefanie O’Polka and her husband James of Baltimore, MD, Tara Freer of Seneca, Sam Johnson, Melanie Irwin and her husband Todd of Franklin, Erik Johnson and his wife Brandi, Bridget Shawley and her husband Todd and Lori Pedley and her husband Will all of Oil City; 13 great-grandchildren Cody and Austin Larson, Daphne Shawley, Dylon Irwin, Jensen and Noah Hufnagel, Lucas and Lucy Pedley, Owen, Carter and Spencer O’Polka, and Austin and Chase Cook; and a great-great-granddaughter Raelyn Cook. Also surviving are a sister Jane Mildred Finch and a brother Dick Swavey both of Franklin.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Rick Freer and a brother Frederick Swavey.

Friends will be received in the Huff Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 312 W. Park St. from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Rev. Robert Kifer, pastor of Heckathorn United Methodist Church and Rev. Mark Rusnak, AsceraCare chaplain officiating.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
