FullSizeRender (1)Joshua A. Scheffer, 31, a resident of 1131 ½ Allegheny Avenue, Oil City died peacefully Sunday, November 9, 2014 in his home.

He was born November 22, 1982 in Titusville; a beloved son of Charles L. and Sally A. Romanchak Scheffer.

Josh was a 2001 graduate of Cranberry High School; and had attended ITT Technical Institute in Pittsburgh where he earned an associate degree in Computer Technology.

He had worked as an IT Tech with the Bayer Corporation in Pittsburgh.

He loved music, especially singing and playing his guitar. Josh enjoyed sports; and had a keen interest in playing baseball and softball. He enjoyed working and fixing computers in his spare time.

Josh particularly enjoyed being a favorite uncle to his niece and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all those who loved him!

He is survived by his mother: Sally A. Romanchak Scheffer of Oil City and by two sisters: Jenifer L. Kachik and her husband Daniel of Oil City and Corinna L. Scheffer of Tarentum; his beloved niece: Morgan Scheffer and beloved nephews: Blake Kachik and Levi Scheffer. Also surviving is his father: Charles L. Scheffer of Oakhill, FL.

Also surviving is his maternal grandmother: Barbara S. Romanchak of Franklin and by aunts and uncles: Suzanne M. O’Neil and her husband Floyd and Nancy J. Weiser and her husband Jim, all of Franklin and Jim and Thelma Burk, also of Franklin; in addition to many other loving great aunts, great uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends. Josh also leaves behind his faithful companion and beloved dog: Ben.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Joseph P. Romanchak and by his paternal grandparents: James and Jane Scheffer.

Friends may call Friday 4-7 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.

A blessing service will be conducted Friday evening at 7 PM in the funeral home with Deacon Walter Jones of St. Patrick Church in Franklin, officiating.

Private Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Josh’s name to either: The Venango County Humane Society (Building Fund), P.O. Box 1045, Oil City, PA 16301, The Oil City Public Library, #2 Central Avenue, Oil City or to the charity of one’s choice.
