Rebecca L. Pertz

Rebecca L. Pertz of Oil City passed away peacefully with her family at her side Monday evening Nov. 10, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.

Becky was born on June 21, 1929 in Oil City, a daughter of the late Robin and Helen Dobson Hart. She was married to Donald E. Pertz on May 26, 1948 in Oil City.

Becky was a graduate of the Oil City High School. She had been employed as a switchboard operator and in medical records at the former Oil City Hospital for a number of years from where she retired.

She was a former member of the Good Hope Lutheran Church and had attended the Seneca Evangelical Congregational Church where her brother had pastored.

Becky enjoyed cooking and baking, taking rides with her family, and hauling her kids to activities in their earlier years. She and Don had fostered many children of all ages in their home through the former Children’s Aid Society prior to her employment at the hospital. She had also enjoyed babysitting for several private families over the years.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years of Oil City; three sons, Daniel C. Pertz and wife Darole of Seneca, Jayce E. Pertz and wife Karen of Titusville, and Mark T. Pertz and fiancée Denise Koch of Lowellville, OH; seven grandchildren, Janel, Aaron, Scott, Danielle, Jayla, DeAnn, and Leigha; several great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Moyer of Grove City, Clara Fritz and husband Robert of Oil City, Helen McClintock and husband Larry of Brooklyn, CT; two brothers, Robin Hart and wife Joanne of Seneca, and Rev. David Hart and wife Judy of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Donald R. Pertz; a sister, Marty Schwabenbauer; and a brother, Larry Hart.

No public calling hours will be observed. Family and friends may attend a memorial service at 11:00 AM Saturday November 15th at the Seneca Evangelical Congregational Church with her brother, Rev. David Hart, and Pastor Janor Bestwick, officiating.
