3082884Rachel E. Davenport, 73, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away Thursday morning, November 13, 2014 at Hershey Medical Center. Born April 18, 1941 in Franklin, PA, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Grace Sheats Lowry.

A 1957 graduate of the Cranberry High School, she was a homemaker most of her life. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Chambersburg. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grammie, and sister, Rachel made her family the center of her life and made everyone feel special. She was generous and always thought of others. She loved talking to her sisters and loved entertaining family and friends.

Rachel is survived by her husband, Clinton H. Davenport, whom she married November 9, 1957; her daughter, Debra Grace Logan (John); her son, Clinton H. Davenport, III; granddaughter Katherine Grace (John E., Jr.) Hodge; grandson Kyle R. Logan; and great-grandson John E. “Trip” Hodge, III. Also surviving are seven sisters, Peg (wife of the late Stan) Idzi, Barb Perry (Fred), Sue Lang (Bob), Linda (wife of the late Gary) Stevens, Ginger Renninger (Richard), Judy Newell (Ron), and Ruth Curran (Tom); a sister in law Sandy (wife of the late Bill) Lowry; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Peter Lowry, her brother Sam and wife Gerry Lou Lowry; her brother Bill Lowry; her sister Jane and husband Harry Wenner, and sisters Mary Wagner, Janet Haba.

Services will be held at 7:00 PM Saturday, November 15, 2014 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, PA with Rev. Fr. David Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends at the conclusion of the service until 9:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, November 17, 2014 at Georgeville Cemetery near Van, PA.
