JENKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Marienville-based State Police, around 7:15 a.m. on November 15, a one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 66, 164 feet east of Maple Street, Jenks Township, Forest County.

Police say 49-year-old Lonny Packard, of Bradford, was traveling southbound on SR 66, and a deer entered the roadway and into the path of his 2010 Chevrolet Equinox.

After striking the deer, the vehicle traveled approximately 135 feet in a southbound direction and side swiped a tree with the passenger side of the vehicle, according to police.

After impacting the tree (which was situated approximately 10 feet west of the roadway), the vehicle traveled approximately 144 feet in a southbound direction while spinning in a clockwise direction.

The vehicle came to a final rest approximately three feet west of the roadway and facing in a northwest direction.

Packard and a 17-year-old male passenger, also of Bradford, were using seat belts and were not injured.

The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene by Frank’s Auto.
