Linda L Shields

Linda-Shields-1416229396Linda L Shields, 65 of Hopewell, died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice following a short illness. She was born Friday, December 10, 1948 in Brookville, PA the daughter of John Zimmerman and Martha (Clyde) Zimmerman and married David R. Shields on Saturday, July 27, 1968.

Linda was a homemaker, a great cook and enjoyed sewing. She was a volunteer with the West Muskingum School District for many years and worked at The Downtown Deli in the Masonic Temple Building. Linda was a dedicated member of Gratiot United Methodist Church where she was very active in the Hannah Circle and was a member of the Morris Chapter 14, Order of the Easter Star in Oil City, PA. She was a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother who cherished the time she spent with her family. To Linda family especially her grandchildren meant everything. She loved traveling with her husband, especially cruising.

Linda is survived by her husband: David Shields of the home; two daughters: Wendy & Bill Roush and Tonya Morrison both of Zanesville; one son: Joseph “Jody” & Ashley Shields of Nashport six grandsons: Slade Ferris, Brayden Morrison, Mason Roush, Eli Roush, Cooper Roush and Braxton Shields; one sister — Liz Hetrick of Marionville, PA, many nieces and nephews and a host of very special friends including Pam & Terry Yost of Chandlersville, Pat & Tammy Hemmer of Zanesville and Sherry Roush of Zanesville.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters: Wilma Latona, JoAnn Shaffer, Phyllis Crise, Clyde Zimmerman, Ed Zimmerman, Dick Zimmerman and her mother & father-in-law: David & Earla Shields.

Friends may call from 2:00 to 4:00 & 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 20 with Pastor Matt Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Gratiot United Methodist Church, 345 South Street, Gratiot, Ohio 43740 in Linda’s memory.
