Shirley-George-1416339252Shirley Marie George, 84, of 115 Washington Ave, died at 9:50 am, Monday, November 17, 2014, at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Born July 15, 1930 in Cornplanter Township, she was a daughter of the late Archie R. and Murriel French Rodgers.

Shirley was a graduate of Oil City High School.

She worked at Thrift Drug Store, Welker & Maxwell in the children’s department, and was the manager of The Teddy Bear Boutique – Children’s Store in Oil City.

Shirley worked the election polls and loved to celebrate the holidays with all her children and grandchildren.

On April 27, 1974 she was married at Tionesta to Robert R. George, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1991.

Surviving are two sons, David R. Jones and wife Peg of Bellefonte, and Theodore W. Jones of Seneca; one daughter, Sue McDonald and husband Bob of Oil City; five grandchildren, Kimberly Blackwell and husband Bradley of Oil City, Brian R. McDonald and wife Sarah of Oil City, Stephanie R. Keith and husband Brandon of Seneca, Angie Horne and husband Bill of Oil City, and Jason Fox and wife Erica of Maryland; and 12 great grandchildren, Kyle, Quentin, Dameaka, Austin, Ashley, Andrew, Justin, Kayla, Macie, Zoey, Loralei and Gavin.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lucille Couch and two brothers, William F. Rodgers and Rev. Gerald A. Rodgers.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Thursday with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, officiating.

Interment will be in Shaw Farm Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Oil City Salvation Army or the Oil City Library.
