Lois Elaine Sebring Burkett

Lois Elaine Sebring Burkett, 75, of Brookville, was called home by her Heavenly Father Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer for more than three years.

She died at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was Born May 16, 1939, in Grant Township, Indiana County.

Lois was a daughter of the late Harold Sebring and Elsie Bartlebaugh Sebring. She was married to Nelson V. Burkett on Dec. 6, 1958, in Worthville. He survives.

She retired from the Brookville Area High School as a cafeteria cashier.

She attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville. She loved attending hymn sings, camping, sewing, painting and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include a son, Jeffery V. (Beverly) Burkett; three daughters: Jacquelyn E. Cook (fiancé Craig Knapp), Joanne R. (Donald) Rankin, Jodi (Scott) North; one brother and four sisters: Babe (William) Howells of Marion Center, Eleanor Goss of Marion Center, Donna Smith of Tennessee, James (Peg) Sebring of Marion Center and Norma (George) Hupp of Florida; six grandchildren: Jessica Cook Hanlin (William), Tyler Rankin (Crystal), Charlie Burkett, Nicholas Rankin, Austin Cook and Joshua Rankin; three great-grandchildren: Jordan Cook, Ryann Cook and Braiden Rankin.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, 2014, at the McKinney Funeral Home in Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Smeal and the Rev. J. Ray Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Roseville Bethel Cemetery, Union Township.
